The Maxwell Rodgers Journey Begins on a New Zealand Farm
Under the stewardship of Fiona Ramsden, the owner of Ware Ware Farm and an award-winning wool classer, the wool clip is personally sorted by Fiona to ensure the fibre used in manufacture is is the absolute best in the world.
Working alongside the shearers in the historic Moanaroa woolshed, she ensures that only the best wool makes the cut.

Ware Ware Farm
In the remote, stunning landscape of Southern Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, lies Ware Ware Farm near the town of Pongoroa.
Here, on the gentle, rolling pastures of Moanaroa station, prime sheep are raised that produce over 70,000kg of strong wool a year that is used in our Maxwell Rodgers fabrics and throws.
The story of our wool begins with a meticulous process.
Our Wool Must Meet Exacting Standards
This is a story of quality control that starts right here on the farm:
Micron: We select fine yet durable wool with a micron count of 27 to 29.
Color: The fleece must have a consistent, bright white color.
Staple length: We use wool with a staple length, between 75-100mm long—long enough to be strong, but not so long that they become brittle.
Vegetable matter: The wool must have less than 0.01% vegetable matter to ensure a clean, smooth yarn with no contamination.
The Start of The Wool Journey
After the wool is hand-selected, its journey continues across the country. It travels from the farm in Pongaroa to the modern Woolworks scour in Napier, where it's washed and prepared. From there, it's sent to Lower Hutt to be spun into yarn before making its way to Auckland to be dyed and woven into our upholstery fabric and signature throws.
Every step of this process happens right here in New Zealand, ensuring the highest quality from start to finish and low carbon footprint.
New Zealand enjoy a reputation as being the source of the world’s finest wool, and Fiona at Ware Ware Farm goes the extra mile in selecting only the finest of fleeces.
Once woven into stunning bed throws (found in many iconic hotels and cruise ships around the world) and upholstery fabrics, the end result is a product of unsurpassed quality with performance to match.
